2012 Weddings

I have a lovely time last year doing the hair and make-up for many brides and their wedding parties, so I thought I would share some of the lovely pictures I have been sent.  If you like any of the looks for yourself there is a list of products underneath each picture so you can recreate the look.

Bride Faye
Wedding in Ruabon
Make-up - Lizzie Griffiths

For Faye's base I firstly used Dr Brant pore refiner as a primer, then Laura Mercier oil free tinted moisturiser in nude, secret concealer in SC1 and translucent powder just on the t-zone for a dewy look to the skin.  I started off the eyes by applying Laura Mercier eye basic in linen to stop any creasing and to keep the eye shadow lasting longer.  MAC eye shadow in vanilla was applied all over the eyelid and underneath the eyes, then from the top lash line to the crease and in the inner corner I applied MAC eye shadow in naked lunch, then wedge in the crease and underneath, with a very thin line of Shu Uemura gel liner (my favourite gel liner) on the top lash line.  I then took MAC eye shadow in brun and softened the gel liner, run it under the bottom lash like and a little bit buffed into the outer crease for extra definition.  Laura Mercier long lash black mascara was applied to the top and bottom lashes with Eylure Naturalites Lengthening False lashes 116.  The eyebrows were defined with MAC wedge eye shadow.  To keep that dewy look to the skin I used Nars liquid illuminator in Copacabana and applied it to the top of the cheekbones, underneath the brow bone and the bridge of the nose, then added Laura Mercier oleander cream blush to the apples of the cheeks.  For the lips I lined them with MAC lip liner in dervish and Laura Mercier lip glace in bare pink.

Bride Kate
Wedding at Hawstone Park, Shewsbury
Hair & Make-up - Lizzie Griffiths

Kate wanted a 1950s / Vintage look for her wedding to compliment the dress.  For the base I primed the skin with Laura Mercier oil free primer, then applied the oil free tinted moisturizer in Bisque, secret camouflage in SC2 where needed, then buffed mineral powder in real sand over the top.  Underneath the eyes were concealed with Laura Mercier secret concealer in number one with secret brightening powder on the top.  The liner was the main focus on the eyes, so I started off priming them with Laura Mercier eye basic in linen, then applied MAC eye shadow in vanilla all over the lid and underneath.  I ran MAC eye shadow in wedge through the crease and for a little more definition I lightly ran MAC eye shadow in expresso through the bottom part of the crease and underneath the eye. Shu Uemura black gel liner was used the line the top lash line which flicked out at the.  For a little bit of glamour I applied MAC false lashes number 20 to the outer part of eye.  For the cheeks I used MAC powder blush in peachy keen,  the lips were lined and filled in for staying power with Lipstick Queen lip liner in red.  The stunning and very glamerous lipstick used on the lips was By Terry rouge terribly in number 201.

Bride Savini
Wedding in Colwyn Bay
Hair & Make-up - Lizzie Griffiths
Assistant - Linda McIlroy

Savini wanted a natural base with the eyes being the focus of her make-up.  I primed her skin with Dr Brant pore refiner, then buffed Laura Mercier oil free tinted moisturizer in Tan with a little bit of Almond mixed in, used a little bit of Secret Camauflage to conceal and set it with transleucent powder.  Although Savini wanted the eyes to be the focus she doesn't normally wear a lot of make-up so didn't want them to be too dramatic, so I used Laura Mercier eye basic in buff all over the eye lid, then applied a caviar stick in amethyst from the lash line to the socket with African violet eye shadow over the top.  For the crease I used Laura Mercier eye shadow in black plum and also run it underneath mixed with plum smoke.  To finish the eyes I applied She Uemura black gel liner to the top lashes with a flick, By Terry mascara terribly in back and defined the eye brows with MAC eye shadows in brun and carbon.  For the cheeks I first applied By Terry liquid rose de rose blush in amber rose to for lovely glow with MAC blusher in plum foolery on top.  The lips were lined and filled in with lipstick queen pencil in nude, then MAC lipglass in lovechild.

Bride Cheryl
Wedding at Llyndir Hall, Rossett
Make-up - Lizzie Griffiths

I used Laura Mercier creme smooth foundation in warm ivory with the oil free primer on Cheryls skin, then buffed mineral powder in real sand over the top to create a airbrushed finish.  Laura Mercier golden bronze was lightly brushed over the skin for some warmth, with Nars Illuminator in copacabana on the cheek bones to highlight and MAC powder blush in pink swoon (one of personal favourite blushers that I wear) on the apples of the cheeks to add a pop of colour.  Laura Mercier procucts were used on the eyes, starting with the eye basic in flax, eye shadows in sable, sandstone and ground coffee,  cake eyeliner in black ebony to define,  eyebrow pencil in warm brunette, full blown mascara in black and secret concealer in number 1.  The lips were kept soft with MAC lip pencil in subculture and lip glass in viva glam VI.

Bride Becky
Wedding at Grosvenor Pulford Hotel
Hair & Make-up - Lizzie Griffiths
Assistant - Penny Lawrence

I used Laura Mercier hydrating primer, tinted moisturizer in Bisque, translucent powder and secret camauflage in SC2 for Becky's base.  Some of the shades from the Urban Decay naked 2 pallet were used on the eye to create a soft eye make-up look, I would highly recommend getting this pallet as it has 12 different neutral shades in various textures to create anything from a natural eye look for a full on smoky eye and the shadows are also top quality.   By Terry touch expert in nude was used around the eyes to conceal, Laura Mercier eye brow pencil in blonde and Laura Mercier long lash mascara in black.  To add some warmth to the skin I used Nars bronzer in laguna, then highlighted the cheeks with MAC phloof! eye shaddow on the cheekbones and Nars blusher in orgasm.  For the lips I lined wit Nars lip liner in fantasia and Nars gloss in Orgasm.

Bride Liz
Wedding in Stoke-on-Trent
Hair & Make-up - Lizzie Griffiths
Assistant - Linda McIlroy

Laura Mercier oil free foundation in sunny beigh was used on Liz's skin on top of Dr Brant pore refiner (amazing for instantly smoothing out open pores and a make-up base).  I used make-up for ever concealer on any blemishes and underneath the eyes, I got this amazing palette of four concealer colours from IMATS this year, you can pretty much blend the colours for anyones skin tone.  The base was then set with Laura Mercier transleucent powder, you may have guessed that I love this powder as I use it a lot, it is completely transleucent and is finley milled so always looks lovely and eliminates shine.  The eyes were primed with Laura Mercier eye basic in wheat, then sable eye shadow was applied to the the lid with twilight grey eye shadow in the crease and underneath.  I applied Laura Mercier baked eye shadow in ballet pink to the inner corner of the eye and brow bone, defined the eye brows with MAC cork eye shadow, Shu Uenuma gel liner in black to the top bash line and for the lashes applied Laura Mercier full blown mascara in black.  I used a Laura Mercier cream blush in canyon the the cheeks and for the lips used naked lip liner with bon bon gloss.

Bride Michelle
Wedding at Combermere Abbey, Whitchurch
Hair & Make-up by Lizzie Griffiths
Assistants - Penny Lawrence & Linda McIlroy

Michelle wanted soft smoky eyes, so I primed the eyes with Laura Mercier eye basic in linen, then applied an eye metallic in gold on the eye lid with MAC eye shadow in moth brown over the top.  I then buffed MAC eye shadow in expresson into the crease, eye khol in teddy was run underneath with mulch eye shadow over the top.  I think used Shu Uemura gel eye liner in black to line to top lashed and slightly flicked out, the line was then softened with MAC carbon eye shadow, eye brows defined with Kevyn Auccoin brow pencil in brunette, volume mascara in black also by Kevyn Auccoin and MAC eye lashes number 20 applied to the outer part of the eye.  Michelle had never worn false lashes before and she absolutely loved the effect.  Laura Mercier original primer was applied to the skin with silk creme foundation in rose ivory, secret camauflage in SC2, translucent powder and By Terry touche veloutee in porcelain underneath the eyes.  For a lovely rosy look to the cheeks I used Laura Mercier blusher in rose bloom.  Lipstick queen was used on the lips with the rose lip liner and the jean queen gloss.

To prepare the skin I use Emma Hardie skincare products available from Space NK, which my brides love and is fabulous under make-up.

I had really had a great time helping to make all the brides from last years weddings special, met some really lovely people and look forward to doing the same this year.  On some of my larger weddings I have had the help of an assistant, so that it all runs smoothly and to time, so thank you so much to Penny, Linda and Sophie - you three are amazing!
