HOLLYWOOD GLAMOUR INSPIRED PHOTO SHOOT WITH CLICK 79 PHOTOGRAPHY

This is another photo shoot that I have done with the talented photographer Lyndsay Roberts of Click 79 Photography.  Lyndsay is a 1st degree qualified photographer specialising in fashion, studio and wedding photography.  We all had a great time working on this Hollywood inspired photoshoot!

For the hair I decided on a up style that was sophisticated and elegant yet still looked contemporary.  Most of the time with make-up you would go with either strong eyes or strong lips, but there are times when you can get away with both.  This is the type of make-up when you can get away with both as it would usually be worn for a glamorous event in the evening.

SPACE NK CHESTER FAVOURITE PRODUCT CHALLENGE

I work with the most lovely ladies in Space NK Chester, so decided to set them a challenge!  I asked them to choose one product that is there ultimate favourite product in the store, you would think this would be easy, but if you think about all the amazing products and brands Space NK sell it is a very hard challenge!
Beauty Advisor - Amy Jones
Eve Lom -  Cleanser

For Amy's favourite product she picked Eve Lom's hero cleanser!
Amy says 'Eve Lom cleanser is one of my favourite skincare products.  It leaves my skin thoroughly cleansed unlike any other cleanser I have tried without a drying or tight feeling.  I love that I don't have to use a separate eye make-up remover as it effortlessly melts away even the smokiest of eye make-up.  I have also found it to be very balancing on my skin clearing up breakouts  and areas of congestion.  It also acts as an exfoliator and toner.  For me it turns cleansing into a luxurious and indulgent step in my skincare routine.  I will use it forever!'

Store Manager - Jane Meeker
Diptique - Figuier Colour Sented Candle

I was not at all surprised that Jane picked a candle as she absolutely loves them and there is nothing she does not know about candles!  Here is what Jane has to sat about her favourite candle!

'Diptique to me shouts luxury and decadence.  I adore the candles especially figure which you can buy in a beautiful green glass jar.'

Beauty Advisor - Emily Jones
Kevyn Aucoin - The Celestial Powder in Candlelight
Emily says 'I love Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Powder because it gives a lovely glow to the skin.  Its great as it suits lots of different skin tones and gives a sheen to the cheekbone rather than a glitter effect.  It can instantly give your skin radiance and pick me up thats why its my favourite product in Space NK'
Assistant Store Manager - Diane Nicole
Oribe - Colour Shampoo & Conditioner
I let Diane have two favourite products as they do complement each other perfectly and this is why she loves them
'My favourite product is Oribe colour shampoo and conditioner as it revitalises your colour and keeps the hair looking shiny.  Gives you a just stepped out of the salon look and feel.'

This might give you some good ideas for Christmas presents or what to put on your own Christmas list!

My Five Favourite Skincare Products

My clients often ask me what my favourite skincare products are, I have so so many, but I have narrowed it down to five, which are my real staples!

Revive - Moisture Renewal Cream
This is my night cream which I have used since I started working at Space NK seven years ago and I cannot see myself ever changing it, apart from about one night a week when I use a moisture mask to sleep in.  It is £105, but I truly think it is worth every penny.  It pretty much does everything that you want from a night cream lightly exfoliates, retextures, renews and moisturises the skin.  I use the original version, but if you have a dryer skin you would go for the supreme version.

Eve Lom - Moisture Mask
I love this product for when my skin feels like it needs a hydration boost.   On average I use it one a week to sleep in, but with a hydration mask I would say just use it when you feel like your skin needs it.  This is a lovely gel texture that sinks into the skin beautifully leaving it rehydrated, supply and soft.  It also prevents future dehydration and protects from environmental damage.  An added bonus is it is presented in a beautiful glass jar that would look lovely in any bathroom or dressing table.

Chantecaille - Flower Harmonizing Cream
This is my favourite cream to use in the day as just really works for me.  My skin is combination, oily in the centre but then can also be dry just around the nose and dehydrated on the cheeks, so the texture is prefect as its like a cream gel.  It contains essential oils, flowers, seaweed and vitamins which leave the skin hydrated, helps produce collagen and protects the skin from everyday stress.   It also reduced inflammation which is a great for me as my skin is slightly sensitive.

Emma Hardie - Moringa Cleansing Balm
I have pretty much used this cleansing balm every night with my clarisonic since it was launched in Space NK.  Its a beautiful cleansing balm that removes all make-up and eye make-up (even my smokey eye make-up)  leaving the skin fresh and clean.  It contains grape seed oil and sweet almond oil which pumps and softens the skin.  I personally think that a balm is the best thing to cleanse a skin at night with as it removes everything from the day.  This balm is also great as a lip balm and a hydration mask if left on the skin.
Nude - Detox Brightening Fizzy Powder Wash
This is a new favourite of mine which hasn't long been launched.   This is a gorgeous exfoliator that you can use three times a week. I put a small amount of the powder into the palm of my hand and added a little bit of water which makes it turn into an exfoliating paste. My skin feels very fresh and clean after and this product would be a great addition to any skincare routine as I think it would boost the products that are already being used.

I hope this has been useful for you and given you some ideas for new skincare purchases!

SPACE NK SPRING / SUMMER 2014 - THE NEW BEAUTIFUL

I was lucky enough to be invited to London with Space NK Chester's store manager the lovely Jane Meaker to a colour seminar joining other  Space NK make-up artists and store managers from up and down the country.  We had a masterclass with award winning make-up artist Karen Alder, who demonstrated the five season key looks with lots of brilliant techniques.

Karen demonstrating one of the looks at the masterclass.  One of my favourite tips she gave us to make foundation look more natural was once the base is done to lightly spritz it with water and pat dry with a clean foundation brush.  This gives a lovely natural healthy look to the skin.

Five stunning looks were created for the Space NK SS14 - The New Beautiful campaign, that can be adapted to suit each individual or mix some of the looks together.  You can see the beautiful make-up looks that Karen Alder did for Space NK on their website!

Raw Beauty
Rebel Rebel
Metallic Muse
Hot Lips
Bronze Goddess

Here is a look I created on my fellow Space NK make-up Artist Emily.  I  used two of the looks for the  inspiration for  Emily's make-up, the skin, lips and eyebrows from Bronze Goddess and the eye make-up from metallic muse

A close up of Emily's eye make-up - I love the Laura Mercier caviar sticks they are so easy to apply and blend so beautifully

This is the rebel rebel look inspired eye make-up on me, the feline flick seems to be always in fashion but this one has a more rock chic feel about it.  Some of you might think that it is too strong for you, well you can still wear it but just maybe do a more subtle version of it.  On the other hand you might want to make want to make it stronger!  Personally I love this type of eye make-up with nude lips.  To achieve this kind of eye make-up look I think an essential brush is the Space NK angled eyeliner brush, as the bent top of the brush helps you get a much easier application of the eye liner.

Katherine Daniels Cosmetics Review

Katherine Daniels is a new British skin care brand, which has been developed by two skincare experts. Immediately I loved the packaging, that would look lovely in anyones bathroom or dressing table,   its simple and classy.  The products are natural and paraben free, but is also results driven with the active ingredients from plant, marine, collagen and biotechnology sources.

Essential Micellar Face & Eye Make-up Remover
This was the first product I tried, it says that it removes all traces of make-up.  Well I am a pretty good person to test this out on then as I generally wear a full smokey eyes on a daily basis.   I got two cotton pads and used a pump of the water on each, then placed one on each eye and held it there for about 10 seconds and then gently rubbed my eyes to remove the make-up.  It passed the test on my eyes, one pump on each eye was enough!.  I also used another pump on a cotton pad to remove my face make up, my skin felt so fresh after.  I am a double cleanse girl, so this will now be the first step in my cleansing.  I finished my cleansing with a balm and clarisonic, I think I may try either the cleansing gel or milk as the second step next.
Concentrate for dry skin
With the winter my skin for the first time has gone a little dry in parts, so thought I needed something more nourishing for the winter months.  I loved the way that this product went straight into the skin without any sticky feeling and my skin felt so soft and plumped.  This is not only an amazing product for dry skin it also has anti ageing properties so makes it great value for money.

Dry Skin Cream
Now to the finishing product, the dry skin cream, well I could not believe how easily this absorbed into my skin, usually anything with for dry skin leaved my skin feeling sticky and sits on the skin.  This cream just left my skin feeling lovely and radiant.  After a week of using this cream with the concentrate underneath, the dryness on my skin has gone, so these are real staples for my now for the winter.  Again as with the concentrate this has anti ageing benefits boosting collagen and elastin production

I would highly recommend the Katherine Daniels products as I found they are highly effective at a great price and I love the fact that it is a British brand.  I will also be using Katherine Daniels products on my clients as I am sure they will love them as much as I do.

If you would like to purchase from Katherine Daniels go to their website

Love
